Q:    Why are these products being recalled?

A:    We have learned that the lithium-ion batteries in the HALO 1000 Portable Power Station can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards that can lead to serious injury or death.    

Q:    Have there been any incidents or injuries?

A:    We are aware of five reports of fires involving the HALO 1000 Portable Power Station, including one report of a death from smoke inhalation and two reports of smoke inhalation one of which included burn injuries.  

Q:    Where were the recalled products sold?

A:    The recalled products were sold by QVC and ACG and online at ZAGG.com beginning October 2021.

Q:    How many recalled products have been sold?

A:    About 5,740 products were sold. 

Q:    How can consumers take advantage of the recall?

A:    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled HALO 1000 Portable Power Station and unplug the product. 

STEP 1: With the product(s) unplugged, cut the charger cord(s) and take a photograph of: (1) your recalled HALO 1000 Portable Power Station(s), the cut charger cord(s) and your name written on a piece of paper, and (2) the product rating label sticker on the bottom of your recalled HALO 1000 Portable Power Station(s) and your name written on a piece of paper.

STEP 2: Visit https://halo1000recall.expertinquiry.com/ to register for a replacement product and upload the requested photographs. You will receive an email confirming your registration and letting you know if your photographs were approved or if they need to be retaken for some reason.

STEP 3: Once you have received the email confirming that your photographs and recall registration have been accepted, please dispose of the recalled HALO 1000 Portable Power Station. Recalled lithium-ion batteries should be disposed of in accordance with local and state ordinances. Follow the procedures established by your municipal recycling center for recalled lithium batteries because these potentially hazardous batteries must be handled differently than other batteries. Do not throw this recalled battery in the trash. Do not deposit this recalled battery in used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores.

STEP 4: The photographs and recall registration approval email will include a link to a product disposal attestation form, after you have disposed of the product, please select the link and complete the attestation form. Once this form is complete, your registration will be complete.

 

Q:    My product appears to be operating okay.  Can I continue to use it?

A:    No. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled HALO 1000 Portable Power Station and contact the HALO 1000 recall hotline toll-free at 888-345-0481 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, via email at halo5528@sedgwick.com or online at https://halo1000recall.expertinquiry.com/ to register for a replacement product. 

Q:    Can I just repair the product myself?

A:    Unfortunately, there is not a repair available for the recalled product. Please contact the HALO 1000 recall hotline toll-free at 888-345-0481 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, via email at halo5528@sedgwick.com or online at https://halo1000recall.expertinquiry.com/ to register for a replacement product.

Q:    I no longer have the receipt for the product; can I still receive a replacement product?

A:    Yes, consumers do not need a receipt to participate in the recall as long as they still have the product. Please contact the HALO 1000 recall hotline toll-free at 888-345-0481 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, via email at halo5528@sedgwick.com or online at https://halo1000recall.expertinquiry.com/.

Q:    I no longer have the product; can I still receive a replacement product?

A:    No. Unfortunately, consumers must provide proof that they have a product that is subject to the recall in order to receive a replacement product. Q:    How do I dispose of my product in accordance with local regulations?

A:    Do not dispose of your recalled product until you have completed Steps 1 and 2 and received the email confirming that your registration is approved.

In most locations, just bring your HALO 1000 to your local solid waste or recycling center for disposal.  There may also be other services available in your locations where you can drop off products for recycling such as Call2Recycle. It is advisable to put the unit in a plastic bag or tape the battery terminals (or connections) for added protection. If you run into difficulty disposing of the unit, contact us at 888-345-0481 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or via email at halo5528@sedgwick.com for instructions on disabling the cord.
